About

Jessica grew up in the heart of Minnesota as the eldest of four siblings, all of whom have red hair except her. She spent her childhood immersed in stories, often wandering through imaginary worlds long before she started writing them down.

As a Sagittarius with a thirst for new experiences, it’s no surprise that one day she packed up her life and her husky and hit the road. She hired her husband as the mechanic to keep life on wheels running smoothly. They covered thirty-six states in nine years, and she isn’t ready to settle in one place quite yet, if ever.

Jessica consumes books the way most people consume air; has a love for watercolor painting and tarot; owns more rocks than any one person should; and firmly believes that daydreaming counts as productive work.

THE LAST SOULBINDER: CURSE OF THE ONI

Ander survives the werewolf attack that kills his parents to live a cursed life. The night his parents die, he realizes the attack wasn’t a coincidence, they were targeted. The past finally caught up to their life on the run. All Ander knows is his parents gave their lives to protect him. He must fulfill the promise he made to his mother. Armed with her silver dagger as the only clue, he must travel to Harran, Turkey to find the one person who could offer answers and protection. He dedicates his life to hunting monsters and searching for the answers that died with his parents.

Over five-hundred years after the accident that changed his life, the immortal thirty-something Ander and his ASL gnome sidekick Elmer are still searching. The trail leads to Oxford University, where artifacts from a lost civilization have been unearthed in Harran and transferred for study. Just as the truth is within grasp, a string of brutal murders reveals that a powerful monster is hunting Ander.

As the body count rises, the hunter becomes the hunted, and it is the least of their worries. The creature is slowly destroying the barrier between worlds, unleashing a dark mist that is poisoning the planet. As clues surface and the picture becomes clear, so do Ander’s worst fears. The truth his parents tried to outrun may reveal the real threat was never the monster… but the man hunting it.

The Last Soulbinder blends the morally complex monster-hunting of the Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse with the humor and adventurous fantasy spirit of the film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. It explores the consequences of emotional suppression, unconditional friendship, and claiming identity.

Ancient history isn’t dead; it’s waiting.
